Play, Play, Play!!

That's what I like to do... Play, Play, Play! I love to play! My foster home has a toy box filled with stuffies! I can play with them anytime I want! I can chew them! I can toss them! I can even play tug of war with foster daddy or Tommy, my foster brother! I would love to come play at your house! Do you have any stuffies? You gotta fill out that online application!

Hey! Look at me! Walter here! I just got back from a long walk with my foster brother and sisters! That's my foster daddy holding all the leashes! Daddy says I am "good as gold" on a walk! Its really not that hard. I just have to remember not to pull! My foster brother and sisters make sure that I don't! They keep reminding me, "Hey you're retired now! Take it easy, Life's good!" Boy, I am tired now! Nap time! Did you fill out that online application yet? What are you waiting for? I want to come live with you!

July 4th

Happy Fourth of July!

Hello! Foster Dad here! Walter asked me to post his blog today. He says its a holiday, and he's retired now... so he taking it easy! (See pictures)! Anyway, I just wanted to share some of my observations of Walter, or Wally, as I have come to call him. He really is one sweet Red Fawn boy!

* Walter is shy with strangers and small children.

* He is very friendly and loving once he gets to know you.

* Walter ignores cats.

* He gets along very well with other greyhounds and non-greys alike.

* He is non-aggressive, he is passive, not an Alpha dog.

* He has had only one accident in the house. I would consider him housebroken.

* He performed his very first roach today! (see picture).

* He eats well, but fast! I add water to his food to slow him down.

* He loves play, play, and more play! He empties the toybox! He loves stuffies!

* He is very good crated and seems to like his crate! He has been crated up to six hours.

* He is easily corrected with verbal commands.

* He walks well on a lead.

* He now sleeps uncrated in our bedroom at night with three other greys.

* He has no sleep aggression or space issues.

* He is an early riser! Say 5:00 am!

Hey, Walter here!

Just thought I'd check in and tell you how I am doing. Foster Daddy has been calling me "Wally", sometimes "Wally Gator!" He says I'm a non-stop play machine! I'm not sure what that means, but did you know they have a toy box here? Foster Daddy says I empty the toy box several times a day! I love to play! I also love to run in the backyard with my foster brother and sisters! I have been a very good boy! I have had no accidents in the house, or in my crate. I ignore the cat. I am a non-aggressive sweet loveable boy! I have met children and like them once I get used to them. Foster Daddy says I respond well to verbal commands. I am sleeping in the bedroom in a crate. Foster Daddy says I have been a little whiny at nighttime the past two nights, but that's only because I want to come out of my crate and play. I do quiet down when he tells me to. I am crated all day with my foster greys when Mommy and Daddy are at work. I am let outside at noon. I have been a very good boy this week! Foster Daddy says I walk pretty good on a leash too! He took my foster greys and I out for a walk... all four of us together! He said I did a pretty good job at walking within the pack, though I sometimes squashed my poor foster sister Gracie! Last weekend I got to meet some nice people at a Meet & Greet in Towson, MD. I did pretty good! I am still a little shy. Foster Daddy says that once I get to know you I will become your best friend! I follow my Foster Dad and Mom all over the house!

Hi I'm Walter!

Hi there!

My name is Walter! I am a sweet red fawn boy! I just came from Daytona. I had a long day of traveling, but I finally made to my foster home in Newark, Delaware! I am a little shy, but give me a day or two and I will be your new BFF! Did you know that I will be two years old next week on July 7th? I didn't know either. Foster Daddy told me! He has been showing me the ropes of living in a house! Well, he's the boss, but actually its my foster brother and sisters that have been showing me the ropes. I have two foster sisters, Gracie and Abbigail, and one foster brother, Tommy. They are all Greyhounds like me! They told me that they too came from a track long ago! They tell me that I am retired... at two years old! Can you believe it? They have shown me all kinds of cool things, like how to use the stairs, soft beds to lie on, toys to play with, counters to surf... (Oh right! I'm not supposed to do that! oops!). Anyway, they tell me that I must be a good boy if I am to be adopted by a nice family like yours! I am learning. I am good in my crate all day, but I need to remember to pee outdoors, not in the house! And not on Foster Mommy's wicker basket! Foster Daddy says that I am a smart boy and will learn everything I need to know. Well, stay tuned, and I will let you know how well I'm doing!
